Since when did people want to be tipped for doing their job?

I'm sorry I forget, which date was it that paid employees decided that they should get paid extra money from a paying customer? Ins't it enough I pay your store and your salary, now I have to give you the raise your boss doesn't want to give you? This is America not bangladesh
