Why is it so hard to make new friends?

when i first started in a different school, i didnt know half the people, and it seemed like no one was nice or anything. but then after about two weeks, i found the most amazing 6 friends.. so basically what im saying is, you never know who might make a good friend so just talk to everyone nicely, and be funny and fun to be around. im 98% sure if you do that you'll find a friend :)
