Car loan question...?

Ok, lets keep it short and sweet. My boyfriend's car is breaking down & he doesn't want to put the money in it to fix it. He has a new job, no established credit as of yet, and no co-signer is available, but he has verifiable income and good references. What options are there as far as financing a relatively cheap, but reliable ($6,000-$8,000) car? Are there companies or dealerships that are willing to work with individuals who have don't have credit?? Please provide me with any information regarding these companies that you know, so he can get a reliable car. Thank you!!!
