Good time to wean baby of pacifier?

I would start to wean him now. It seems cruel because he's sick but it's vital for him to get as much air as he can with a stuffy nose. Our daughter SaVannah was 2 before we weaned her off of it. We have 4 sons and they all kind of just stopped wanting it around 7-8 months!
